Gale Anne Hurd is practically a superhero herself, so kudos to The Walking Dead executive producer for soon getting a Geekie Award from the guy who co-created some of the coolest superheroes in the universe.
According to TheWrap, Gale will receive the Stan Lee Lifetime Achievement Award from the comic book god himself. The Geekie Awards — which, as you might expect from the name, recognize the best of geek culture — just started last year and the 2014 ceremony will be live-streamed by Twitch on Sunday, August 17 at 9 p.m. ET.
Gale sounds excited to geek out with her peers. “I have always considered myself a geek, so being the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement award named after the ‘King of the Geeks', Stan Lee, is really a dream come true,” Gale said (via TheWrap).
In addition to TWD (and its upcoming companion series), Gale has produced an amazing number of sci-fi movies, from The Terminator, T2 and Aliens to The Abyss, Armageddon, Hulk, and Aeon Flux. Geekie Awards showrunner Kristen Nedopak noted, “Gale has been one of my longtime idols for her work on so many incredible films, and for being an inspiration for female executives in the industry.”
Also at the Geekies, LeVar Burton will be presented the Geek-of-the-Year Award, and these folks will find out if they won or just feel honored to be nominated.
Congrats, Gale!
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres Sunday, October 12 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
